seeing Christ through a funeral

This past Friday I went to a funeral with friend. At the funeral, I knew nobody other then my friend. I had never met or known the lady who had died, I didn't know her character or anything. The only thing I knew coming into the funeral was that she was a Christian. During the funeral, there was a time of sharing. Person after person stood up and talked about how this lady had impacted their lives in so many different ways. She had cooked food for those who were sick. She also visited them when they were in the hospital. If there was a need, she was there to help out in any way. Her service and love was modeled after that of Christ. As I listened to these stories, I was challenged to think about what kind of a legacy i am gong to leave. Will it be one that people will remember or will things have to be made up at my funeral to sound like I impacted some lives?

As i thought about this, I knew the best way to leave a legacy that would be remembered is living a life that is honoring to God. Our lives should reflect that of Christ in word, deed, & thought. We need to make Christ real in our lives. In all that we do, Christ's love is pouring out.

This is an area that I'm still working on and in that I want to challenge you to look at your life and see what you are doing to show the love of Christ through your life? What kind of legacy are you going to leave? What will people say when you are no longer here?

One purpose. One life. One story. What will your story be?

one choice

I have many options, but one choice. I can take what is coming and run away. Hide and hope that it all goes away. When it gets tough I can have a pitty party and get sympathy from others. I can dread how horrible the thing is and wish I never signed up and want to run away from all the hard things.

My second option is to look it in the eyes and see that what is coming is for my benefit. It may seem impossible now, but just to think in a few short months, I will have conquered it. I've done it before and I'm going to do it again. BUT this time I'm starting off with the advantage. I know that this will be hard, but it is possible to do.

What is the answer? Turn and run in the face of hardship? or turn around and shout in its face, BRING IT ON!

No matter how hard it seems, or what others say. YOU can conquer it! Don't let others get you down because of their bad attitude against a prof or class. Some may not like it, but it is different for you!

Hold on! Press On! When the going gets tough. stop and ask God for strength and He will give it. Remember, God is at your side and has put friends into your lives to help you when the going gets rough.

Christmas season 2006 for me is over. All the presents have been opened, all parties have been attended, conversations have been completed until next year, but Christmas cookies still remain, not many but a few:)

This has been one of the best Christmases that i can remember. Not because of the presents recieved, but because of the people who I talked with and hung out with. Little did i know when I went down to Kansas to celebrate Christmas, I had one of the most meaningful conversations with my cousin. He and I were/are still going through the same situation and we were able to talk about it and give encouragement to each other. We both know that we have to rely on God and His timing.

Next was the time I got to hang out with my brother. I had the chance ride back to Omaha his '06 VW Golf. ahh sweet car. The awesome chance we to talk and just hang out. The cool thing was that he sold me his dell laptop! and got himself a macbook pro. So Christmas eve and Christmas day and beyond was spent working with our computers. Yesterday was spent traveling back to Kansas for the annual Busenitz cousin gathering. We're both not big talkers, but it was great to hang out with him. This morning we parted ways. he headed south back to Texas and I headed back here to Omaha. You may wonder how I got back. I now have a car that i will be using while at school. Mazda protege 1994

This year God has blessed me in so many ways. It would be impossible to count all the times God helped me and rained down blessings on me.

give thanks to God

Psalm 136

    1Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good,
         For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
    2Give thanks to the God of gods,
         For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
    3Give thanks to the Lord of lords,
         For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
    4To Him who alone does great wonders,
         For His lovingkindness is everlasting;
    5To Him who made the heavens with skill,
         For His lovingkindness is everlasting;
    6To Him who spread out the earth above the waters,
         For His lovingkindness is everlasting;
    7To Him who made the great lights,
         For His lovingkindness is everlasting:
    8The sun to rule by day,
         For His lovingkindness is everlasting,
    9The moon and stars to rule by night,
         For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
    10To Him who smote the Egyptians in their firstborn,
         For His lovingkindness is everlasting,
    11And brought Israel out from their midst,
         For His lovingkindness is everlasting,
    12With a strong hand and an outstretched arm,
         For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
    13To Him who divided the Red Sea asunder,
         For His lovingkindness is everlasting,
    14And made Israel pass through the midst of it,
         For His lovingkindness is everlasting;
    15But He overthrew Pharaoh and his army in the Red Sea,
         For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
    16To Him who led His people through the wilderness,
         For His lovingkindness is everlasting;
    17To Him who smote great kings,
         For His lovingkindness is everlasting,
    18And slew mighty kings,
         For His lovingkindness is everlasting:
    19Sihon, king of the Amorites,
         For His lovingkindness is everlasting,
    20And Og, king of Bashan,
         For His lovingkindness is everlasting,
    21And gave their land as a heritage,
         For His lovingkindness is everlasting,
    22Even a heritage to Israel His servant,
         For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
    23Who remembered us in our low estate,
         For His lovingkindness is everlasting,
    24And has rescued us from our adversaries,
         For His lovingkindness is everlasting;
    25Who gives food to all flesh,
         For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
    26Give thanks to the God of heaven,
         For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
